A Big Boy Upgrade

We recently moved our son August out of his crib and into his big boy bed! He’s our second child aka the wild one so we fully expected it to be chaos. This kid hasn’t gotten out of bed once. ONCE! Even in the mornings he waits in his bed happily until we turn his Hatch light green, then he’ll get up and play quietly. Shocker!

The details:

You can see how his room looked before in a previous blog post here. The look and the feel is the same because I already loved it so much. I added my favorite IKEA Kallax shelf (in the new white stained oak finish!) so he can have some big boy freedom in his room, and created a more focal reading nook with this painted accent. I went with the Zipadee Kids bed to give August the most autonomy I could. He was still a little too short to climb into even a shorter “regular” bed and knowing how frustrated he gets when he can’t do something himself I thought this would work well. It has risers that can be added down the road, and the sides can be removed and ultimately it will look like a regular bed. August loves it! It’s like his own little fort.

I am still so in love with the mobile that my sister-in-law made for me that I wasn’t ready to part with it. It looks so sweet hanging about the reading nook so there it shall stay!
